He remains the worlds best player of the game of football. He commands respect in the sporting fraternity and has received most attention in recognition to his great Brazilian footballing style.

King of the game

Born Edson Arantes do Nascimento on
23rd October 1940 in Minas Gerais, Brazil 🇧🇷. He began his football career at the tender age of 15. He played for Santos and for his national team at the age of 16.

Soccer legend Pele

He helped his team win the 1958, 1962 and 1970 FIFA World Cup making him the only player globally to so for his motherland. In Brazil, he is hailed as a national hero for his accomplishments in football and for his outspoken support of general policies that improve the social welfare conditions of the poor in Brazil and around the world.

 

History in the making ;

Pele is believed to be the most successful footballer of all times. This is according to IFFHS. He is also the best goal scorer of all times scoring  1281 goals in 1363 games, which included unofficial friendlies and world tour games.

Home and abroad recognition;

In 1961, Brazilian President Jânio Quadros had Pelé individually declared a national treasure.  Pele is the leading all time scorer for Brazil with 77 goals in 92 games.

In 1999 he was voted the all time best footballer of the century by the International Federation of  Football History and Statistics (IFFHS).
  2. In 1999 France Football Association chose the former Ballon d’Or as the footballer of the century. Later the International Olympics Committee (IOC) selected Pele as the athlete of the century.

Great icons

Pele has had great opportunities of meeting world great icons. He met Nelson Mandela the first black President of South Africa. Mandela referred him as a great sportsman of all times. This took place in Pretoria South Africa.
